Eleven levels, from N0 to N10.
There is no official international classification. SkiRDV uses the Skitrust scale, from N0 to N10: fine-grained for beginners, broader at the top. The guidelines below help you place yourself, whatever ski school you learnt with.
N0 · Discovery
Never skied, or first steps: putting skis on, walking, gliding on the flat.
Terrain: Flat area, snow garden
At ski school: Very first lesson
N1 · First glides
Glides in a snowplough on a very gentle slope and can stop.
Terrain: Very gentle slope
At ski school: Beginner
N2 · First turns
Links snowplough turns in the beginner area, rides a magic carpet or a drag lift.

N3 · Green runs
Skis green runs with controlled snowplough turns.

N4 · Towards parallel
Easy blue runs, snowplough turns that open up, first side-slips.

N5 · Blue runs
Basic parallel turns on blue runs, controlled side-slipping, speed control.

Indicative guidelines: every ski school has its own scale, and levels can vary from one resort to another. Your instructor confirms your level during the first lesson.
